I am a very friendly, patient instructor and can adapt my training to suit all pupils of all levels of ability and aptitude.
I have undregone a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check prior to joining the register of ADIs.
To become an ADI I had to pass three examinations:
100 theory test questions requiring an 85% pass mark and a hazard perception test comprising of 14 video clips
identifying developing hazards, a pass mark of 57 out of 75 is needed to get through.
The test of driving ability is an advanced driving test and a very high standard of competence is required.
I had to show a thorough knowledge of the principles of good driving and road safety and how to apply them,
on all or any of the following subjects:
? expert handling of the controls
? use of correct road procedure
? anticipation of the actions of other road users and the taking of appropriate action
? sound judgement of distance, speed and timing
? consideration for the convenience and safety of other road users
The test covered driving on all types of roads including urban areas, dual carriageways and motorways.
The object of this test was to assess the quality of my instruction and ability to pass my knowledge on to pupils.
The test was in two parts, each of which lasted about half an hour. I had to pass both parts on the same test.
I had to demonstrate my knowledge and ability by giving practical driving instruction to an examiner who
took on the role of a pupil who was a beginner, or a learner driver with limited driving knowledge,
and then a pupil who was about test standard.
